On September 5, 2025, the 100% San Juan Initiative hosted its “Blueprints for Thriving” summit, bringing together families, educators, and community leaders for a day focused on strengthening belonging, empowerment, and openness across San Juan County. The event opened with Domini Cappello and featured keynote remarks from Adam Benadivdez, who set the tone for a day centered on collaboration and practical change.
One of the main themes was the idea of the “cumulative effect” — that small, consistent steps taken by individuals can build into major transformation for the community. Participants completed the Social Capital Impact Measure (SCIM) before and after the summit, allowing organizers to track changes in trust, connection, and readiness to act. Results showed meaningful gains in how attendees viewed their capacity to improve daily life in San Juan County. Organizers also introduced the Family Well-Being Framework, a holistic model designed to help families set and track goals in areas such as housing, food, health, education, and transportation.

Resource maps and flowcharts were distributed, providing clear guidance on how to access local services — including programs offering up to $1,000 per year in rental or utility assistance, as well as pathways for food, transportation, and mental health support. Each participant was asked to create a personal “Blueprint for Thriving”, identifying one specific action to take in the coming week. To sustain progress, attendees were encouraged to join monthly accountability circles, where they would report back on their efforts and support each other in reaching goals. “Our summit sparked a meaningful boost in how people feel about belonging, empowerment, and openness in our community—attendees left more inspired, connected, and ready to make a difference.
This event truly moved us from hoping things might improve to believing we can create change together,” said Kathy Price, Co-Coordinator of the 100% San Juan Initiative. By the end of the day, participants expressed a renewed sense of possibility and purpose.
For organizers, the summit demonstrated the power of local collaboration: building a San Juan County where every family has the resources and support they need to thrive.
